About the Shop
One-of-a-kind pieces for one-of-a-kind people.
Retro Clothing Closet is an expertly curated vintage shop where every item has been hand-picked for its quality, character, and soul. Spanning more than five decades, from classic 50s silhouettes and funky 60s flower power to bold 80s prints and nostalgic 90s alt culture gems, nothing here is mass-produced or repeated — when it’s gone, it’s gone. You know what they say... "Nothing haunts you like the vintage you didn’t buy."
I believe that wearing vintage goes so much further than just having good fashion sense. Having a closet full of vintage means you value quality constructed materials that have withstood the test of time. Choosing to spend your money on vintage means you reject the fast fashion machine and all the ways it damages this planet. Supporting vintage sellers means you understand the cyclical nature of this very unique type of market.
Meet the Curator, Cortnie

Being a vintage dealer isn’t just a job — it’s a way of life.
Hi, I’m Cortnie — the person behind every piece you see in this shop. I’ve been an avid thrifter my whole life, but my love of second-hand shopping goes deeper than just the thrill of the find. At its core, it’s always been about the environment, sustainability, and alternative consumerism. I’m passionate about all the ways we as individuals can lessen our footprint on this planet, and buying and selling vintage is one of the most meaningful ways I’ve found to do that. I rejected the capitalist fast fashion machine long ago and have never looked back.
I started reselling vintage about 15 years ago with just one tiny booth in an antique mall. What started as a hobby and a side hustle slowly and steadily grew into a business that is now a huge part of who I am — and today, Retro Clothing Closet has a 2,000 sq ft space inside Sweeten Creek Antiques in Asheville, NC, as well as a standalone brick-and-mortar store in Marion, NC.
When I’m not hunting for vintage gems, you’ll find me out in nature on the hiking trails, rocking out at a good concert, or cruising the back roads in my vintage van. Life is an adventure and I’m doing my very best to find the most excitement while I’m here. I work hard, but I play even harder. One of my favorite things about this job is that I get to combine business with pleasure wherever my sense of adventure leads me — I’ve sourced inventory all over this great country, and it’s a true privilege to travel and treasure hunt simultaneously.
Retro Clothing Closet is a true one-woman show. Every item is sourced, photographed, listed, packed, and shipped by me. When you shop here, you’re not just buying a piece of clothing — you’re supporting a real person who loves what she does, keeping textiles out of landfills, and adding something truly one-of-a-kind to your wardrobe. That means the world to me, and I hope it means something to you too.
