How to Read Measurements

All measurements are taken flat lay (the garment laid flat on a surface) and listed in inches. To compare to your body, double any flat lay measurement that wraps around your body (marked below).

If the garment has no stretch at all, there will only be one measurement. For minimal stretch, which is less than one inch in the flat lay direction, the measurement will be denoted with a +.  If there is a significant stretch to the fabric, a range will be given, but only to what is considered a comfortable stretch.  No measurements are given at their maximum stretch.

It is recommended that you compare measurements to garments that you already own that fit comfortably. Take note of the cuts of pieces and please ask for any additional measurements that you might need to ensure a proper fit.

Tops, Dresses & Outerwear

  • Pit to Pit — Lay the garment flat. Measure straight across the chest from underarm seam to underarm seam. Double this number to get the full chest circumference. Please note that this measurement must be taken around the largest part of your bust.  Your bra size number DOES NOT coincide with your pit to pit measurement.  Your bra number measurement is your underbust.
  • Underbust — Measure straight across the garment just below the bust/underarm area. Double this number to get the full underbust circumference.
  • Natural Waist — Measure straight across the narrowest part of the garment. Double this number to get the full waist circumference.
  • Drop Waist — Measure straight across the garment at the drop waist seam (below the natural waist). Double this number to get the full circumference.
  • Hips — Measure straight across the widest part of the hip area. Double this number to get the full hip circumference.
  • Full Length — Measure from the top of the garment (shoulder seam or waistband) straight down to the hem.

Bottoms & Jumpsuits

  • Rise — Measure from the top of the waistband down to the crotch seam.
  • Inseam — Measure from the crotch seam straight down to the bottom of the leg opening.
  • Shoulder to Saddle — Measure from the top of the shoulder down to the bottom of the crotch seam.
  • Leg Opening / Sweep — Measure straight across the bottom of the leg or skirt opening. Double this number to get the full circumference.
